K.S. Thomas was interviewed by News Anchor Valerie Jackson Warner about her autobiography, "Vina: In The Eyes of A Child." The program aired on April 16th. Also appearing on the , "Up Close and Person." talk show was a representative from The Child Abuse And Neglect organization. (CANN)

Thomas was the guest speaker at a luncheon given by the local chapter of The University of American Federation of Women. The luncheon was held in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month. Her speech emphasizedhow to recognize the danger signs of a child at risk. K.S. hopes to heighten the community's awareness on child abuse.

Ms. Thomas was interviewed by FOX-66-TV during a local book signing. Although she did dicuss her autobiography, the premise of the interview dealt with the recent sexual abuse of students by teachers. Thomas' book details both sexual and physical abuse.

July 2004 Mayor's Office, Flint MI
Ms. Thomas met with Flint's Mayor Don Williamson and his wife Patsy Lou in the Mayor's office where she presented The Mayor with an autographed copy of her book and discussed the means by which child abuse protection and adoption procedures might be enhanced. The Williamson's will try to attend Ms. Thomas's next book signing.
June 2004 House of Representatives, Lansing MI
On June 14th Ms. Thomas was extended an invitation to be present at the Michigan State Capitol, where the subcommittee on Child and Family Services was meeting to discuss proposals dealing with child neglect and abuse, project fundings and changes to laws pertaining to adoption rights. Several Michigan Representatives have read her book which prompted her invitation.
June 2004 Vina: In the Eyes of A Child goes to Washington...
While attending a local Republican function in Flint, MI Ms. Thomas spoke with several Republican candidates about changes to Michigan's adoption laws. In attendance was Deputy Director Bryan Lyle, Team Leader of the RNC who requested a signed copy of Vina which he is forwarding to First Lady Laura Bush. The author is hoping that an opportunity to meet with Mrs. Bush presents itself during the election campaign which is scheduled to swing through Michigan.

Gracie Allen Award winner Shelley Irwin of WGVU-AM radio in Grand Rapids, MI interviewed K.S. Thomas on 24 April 2004. During the presentation Ms. Thomas previewed her book and talked about the Mint Green Ribbon campaign for Child Abuse month.
03 March 2004 Atlantis High School Flint MI
Ms. Thomas and her editor discussed her biography, Vina In The Eyes Of A child with Ms. April Roth's students from Atlantis High School in Flint, Michigan. The students discussed the issues of child abuse with them and volunteered to make green ribbons to distribute during April's Child Abuse Awareness month.Ms. Thomas was invited to speak at a local church by one of the students and she said she would. Ms. Thomas was greeted at the church by the entire congregation wearing Mint Green Ribbons.

WJRT (ABC) Channel 12 television series Newsmaker featured local author K.S. Thomas on their Sunday program today 11 January 2004. The program devoted most of their half hour format to discussing the author's biography "Vina In the Eyes of a Child." Michael J. Thorp the program's host has suggested that Ms. Thomas submit a transcript of the program to The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Ms. Hillman has written a two-part series which chronicles the horrific abuse detailed in local author K. S. Thomas's book "Vina In the Eyes of A Child." The first article in the series covers the events leading up to the removal of Vina and her siblings from their home and their subsequent introduction to the child welfare system.

From her soft-spoken voice and confident demeanor, you'd never suspect Kimberly Thomas was the victim of nine horrific years of starvation,physical torment and sexual abuse...Thomas says her original intent in writing was for closure. She went on to say the goal of the book was to reach out to other victims and to let them know they are not alone.
Bendle students were fortunate to be among the first groups Ms. Thomas has talked to. Students were introduced to the book in Ms. Kimball's class...Upon reading excerpts of the novel VINA, students were enthralled and begged to hear more. They invited Ms. Thomas to visit the classroom to hear from the author directly. Each of the 9th graders came prepared with written questions and spoke with Ms. Thomas and her editor, George Dailey.
